What does your car cover ?
Injury or death to other people
CTPL is required to register or renew with the LTO. It covers injury or death to other people caused by your car, not damage to your own car.
Damage to your own car
A comprehensive plan protects your car against loss or damage from an accident, usually together with third-party cover. Check the limit and how your car is valued.
Theft and burglary
Comprehensive plans usually cover theft and burglary, but the terms differ. CTPL does not.
Driver and passengers
Some comprehensive plans include personal accident or medical cover for the driver and passengers, and others do not. Personal accident insurance is also available as a separate policy.
Roadside help
Some plans include roadside services and others sell them as an add-on. Ask about towing, tyre changes, jump-starts and fuel delivery, and whether there is a limit for each incident.
Claims support
Ask how you file, at what hours, which documents you send, where the car can be repaired, and the excess you pay on each claim.
Three things to know before you drive
You need it to register or renew with the LTO. It covers other people, not you and not your car.
Damage and theft are covered on most comprehensive plans, together with third-party cover. Check acts of nature and the excess.
Some plans include towing and minor repairs on the road, and a claims line that answers every day. Ask before you buy.
If you have an accident
A few steps in the right order keep the claim simple. Crux stays with you through it.
Buy it online, with a person behind it
Have your OR/CR, a valid ID and your car details ready. Crux helps you choose the cover, finish the process from your phone, and stays with you if you ever need to file a claim.
First step
Make sure everyone is safe
Move the car out of traffic if you can, check on everyone involved, and exchange details with the other driver.
Second step
Take photos, get the report
Photograph the scene, the plates and the damage, and get a police report where needed. Claims move faster when the report and the photos are complete.
Third step
Tell your advisor
Message Crux as soon as you can. We tell you which documents to send and follow the claim with you.

Car insurance covers the damage and the liability the policy names. It usually excludes:
- Damage to your own car under CTPL. CTPL covers injury or death to other people only.
- Driving without a valid licence, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Deliberate damage, and racing or similar use.
- Wear and tear, and mechanical or electrical breakdown.
- Use that does not match what you declared, for example commercial use of a private car.
- Damage that happened before the policy started.
- Typhoon and flood damage, unless your comprehensive plan includes acts of nature.
Exclusions differ from plan to plan. Read the policy wording, and an advisor can go through them with you before you buy.
