AXA VUL Philippines — Full Review 2025

Quick Verdict

AXA VUL is one of the best long-term wealth-building tools available to Filipinos — if you understand what it is: a 10–20 year instrument, not a short-term investment. Used correctly, it gives you life insurance protection PLUS professional investment management in one premium. Used incorrectly (expecting 2-year returns), it disappoints.

How AXA VUL Works

Each premium payment is split: one portion buys life insurance coverage (the insurance component), and the remainder goes into an investment fund you choose. Your fund balance — the "cash value" — grows based on fund performance. After the policy matures (typically 15–20 years), you can withdraw the accumulated fund value.

VUL Fund Choices

AXA Philippines offers equity funds (stock market-linked, higher risk/higher potential), bond funds (fixed income, lower risk), and balanced funds (mix of both). Your advisor helps you choose based on your risk tolerance and time horizon. Most 25–35 year olds start with equity; those near retirement shift to balanced.

Is AXA VUL a Good Investment?

For a 15–20 year horizon, equity-based VULs historically outperform bank savings accounts and time deposits in the Philippines. The added life coverage means your family is protected if you don't reach the maturity date. The trade-off: early surrender means penalties and may return less than premiums paid — VUL is a commitment, not a parking space for cash.
